A Journey in Fundraising.

My name is Joyce Browaeys. As a teenager, I used to hand out flyers at circuses featuring wild animals and became a vegetarian before it became trendy. And that sense of social justice kept coming back to me. Until one day, I clicked on a job posting: “Become an ambassador for Greenpeace.” That was the start of my fundraising journey.

Over the years, I took on more and more responsibility, eventually becoming Head of Fundraising at Greenpeace Belgium. I gained extensive experience across the full spectrum of fundraising—from leading diverse teams to designing campaigns, working with CRM systems, conducting data-driven analysis, and exploring every aspect of the field: from major giving and bequests to online campaigns and telemarketing, and more.


I was right in the thick of it, every step of the way—and I still draw on that hands-on experience to this day. It means I understand not only the big picture, but also the day-to-day realities faced by fundraisers, team leaders, and decision-makers in the nonprofit sector.


What should I do now?

I help people and organizations grow their fundraising efforts. Together, we look beyond quick fixes. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of working with more than 30 nonprofits as a consultant. We bring structure to your approach, make smart, well-informed decisions, and bring in the right expertise at the right time.

Why did I start The Fundraising Collective?

Because I believe in collaboration, in sharing knowledge, and in the power of well-organized fundraising. I know where my strengths lie—but I also know when someone else’s expertise is the better fit. That’s why I believe in the collective. In the power of shared experience and complementary skill sets. 


That’s why I use “we.” Because effective fundraising is never a solo effort—I bring in the right experts when the situation calls for it.

There’s so much wisdom in the nonprofit world—but too often, it gets scattered or siloed. With The Fundraising Collective, I want to keep that knowledge flowing: connecting people, sharing expertise, and raising the bar in fundraising. For your organization. For our sector. And simply because it’s great to work with people who inspire you.
